The real reason and meaning for Christmas is not lost on me, we are celebrating the birth of our Lord, absolutely! But I also adore all of the family traditions that have come about from that celebration like making cookies, selecting special ornaments, reading a Christmas book by the fire (or in our case, the TV showing a fireplace channel) and packing the car with kiddos and hot chocolate and cruising around town looking at Christmas lights!
Christmas has always been a huge to-do in our family. We've always had one grandparents house on Christmas Eve, followed by our presents as a family and then Church. On Christmas Day we would wake up to see what Santa brought and then go visit at the other grandparents house. We've done this for as long as I can remember. Since I moved to WV I've been away from my entire family on Christmas 2 years in a row. This year we are going home for Christmas and I am so excited about that. Of course we have our own traditions now but hubbs family does not do Christmas like my family does Christmas so it will be nice to get home and get back to the Christmas I love and cherish and wonderful for The Mr. to see how my crew throws down on Christmas! :)
My house is pretty low-key this year as far as decorations go. I could definitely spend a fortune on Christmas decor and I love me a nice magazine worthy Christmas tour, like so many I have seen from a lot of fabulous bloggers, but for us...it's all about keeping it simple this year and just being together and enjoying this life we've been blessed with!
I've got lots of pics for ya, so here we go...
Your eyes do not deceive you...we have EIGHT stockings hanging up. 3 dogs, 1 cat, 2 children, 2 parents! Yes...my pets all get their own stocking. Theirs are even the monogram stockings. Don't judge me!
I am kind of a deer freak...and Christmas trees of all sizes....
I kept the majority of decorations to the living room and kitchen. This is all we put in our bathroom. I've had this little blue tree since I was a teenager with the same ribbon and lights on it, I just box it up as is! It's sentimental and I don't want to change it.
The hallway that transitions from the living room to the kitchen is not really a hall way...I call it a butler's pantry, but it's not really one of those either...either way, it's great storage space and perfect for my old bottle and jar obsession...
Which brings us to the kitchen...I didn't want a lot of clutter but I wanted some Christmas "cute" in there...
I found these place mats in the clearance aisle at Homegoods for $2.00 for all 4 just because they were opened. Score!
And how is this for making due with what you have? Clock Christmas card holder.
And what is a Christmas kitchen without decorating the wine rack?
This is a live tree from Home Depot. I just wanted it for the smell and it's perfect!
And last but not least, our tree! I love, love, love the tree this year! I decided to make my own "garland" with pompoms and I love the simplicity of it!
I absolutely love to sit here and unwind in the evening with a crackling fire (on the TV) and just admire our tree. It's perfect!
I think this may be our Christmas card next year...HA...
Thanks for taking the tour y'all! MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you get to enjoy it and be with the ones you love this year!
