Goodwill Cart Makeover

Monday, August 18, 2014

Yet another marvelous Monday! (insert sarcasm) we all know that Monday's are a drag...But maybe this will help :)
As you can probably tell, Kristine and I have both been working hard on re-finishing furniture to sell, to help start our business.  With that said we have been going to yard sales, Goodwills, and hunting on the internet like crazy for pieces to work on.  I made a quick trip on my lunch one day a few weeks ago to this awesome Goodwill, and by awesome I mean the most organized, full of furniture, huge, cleanest store I have been in!  I was really just browsing when I saw this....

Now I know what you are thinking.  What in the world did you see in this??  And the answer to that was that I saw TOOO many ideas rushing through my head that once I got home I had no idea where to start!  It looks like just a dusty cheap outdated cart - but to me it was a treasure.

Once I got it home, I had to sit and stare at it for awhile before I came up with a plan as to what I wanted to do with it.  Of course I went to my paint collection to see what I had to work with.  That's one thing that I differ from some of the other people that do this.  I don't like to spend money on projects so I try to use what I have first before going to buy anything.

So I found a grey/silver color and black.  I wanted to do something a little different than I normally do.  I wanted this to have a classic vintage feel to it.  I started by painting the grooves with the grey color, however it was taking forever and making a huge mess so I didn't stick with this even though I wish now I would have! Instead I did the frame with a Valspar Flat Black.  Then I used grey for the tray parts.

Here it is after paint.

Just painting the trays weren't enough for me, it left it too plain so I bought a mirror to put on top, and some stencils to do bring some life to it.

I fell absolutely in love with it! What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by :)
