Another Goodwill DIY...Vintage Yardstick Tables!

Monday, August 25, 2014

Happy Monday y'all! Hope you had a fantastic weekend. We spent our weekend building a dresser for our bedroom. More on that soon!

I'm excited to show you guys this Goodwill makeover! I am telling you what...I freakin' love me some Goodwill! I found these tables for $17 dollars for the pair. End table and coffee table. Solid wood top with a metal/industrial base? I was sold the instant I laid my eyes on them.

Aren't they great? They really were okay, as is...but y'all know me...always painting things! :)

The one on the right was after I sanded the top a bit...sorry. Forgot to get a true before picture.

I knew right away they were going to be grey, so I sanded and primed them almost as soon as I brought them home.

After that I let them sit for a few days while I had to think on what to do next. I knew I wanted them to be grey but I feel like just painting them grey would have left them feeling a little bit boring.

A couple weeks before we visited a furniture re-sale shop in Amish Country and I bought a handful of vintage yard sticks for about 2 dollars. Some of them are so old they have 4 digit phone numbers listed on them...how cool is that?

I am not sure where the inspiration comes from but I decided to use them on the tops of these tables.

I just laid them out and marked where they needed to be cut then cut them with the table saw and screwed them right down to the top of the tables.

I LOVE the way it turned out. Adds a little something to what would have been a boring table and they are a pretty neat little piece of history with their 4 digit phone numbers!

They are for sale in my booth right now and I hope someone will love them as much as I do!

What do y'all think? I think a they would be a great conversation pieces for a teacher or professor.
