Since it is a holiday week, I wanted to make something for the house to show my pride and love for America! Originally I was going to make a wreath for my front door, however my budget didn't like that so I went for a more budget friendly idea.
In my recent trips to Michael's, I have noticed these burlap canvas's and I love them! So I used my 40% off coupon and got this one for $6. Even after I bought it I still had no idea what I was going to do with it just knew I liked it :)
When I got home I found this American flag star laying around and it all just came together. I went to my toolbox and found some of these gold tacks, and got to work.
I know you all love my purple hammer! I sure do... it is just the right size and very handy :)
After figuring out the spacing I wanted I just tapped these little guys into place, didn't take but maybe 10 minutes if that.
Then I got out my hot glue gun and attached the star! Simple as that. Now the hard part was finding a spot to put it in the house... I don't really have any shelves, and we don't have a lot of furniture that we sit decorative stuff on. So I had to come up with a place for it.
My grandma (nanny) had given me this shelf that I loved but it was green and didn't match anything in my house. So I got it out and decided to paint it.
This fit my country theme perfectly. Her whole house is done in a primitive country theme and I have always loved it! One day I want my house to look like hers.. or even better I would like to just buy her house and not change a thing :)
I used Valspar's color sample to paint my shelf. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these. They have a nice selection of colors and they cost about $3.16 after tax! And they go a LONG way. This color is Belle Grove Antique White.
Once it was painted, I had my lovely assistant aka hubby hang it up for me. Then I found a few things laying around to accent it and TADA! I absolutely love the whole thing! And I am thinking that the star canvas will be staying up year round :)
What do you all think?? I hope you love it just as much as I do. All in all this project only cost me about $6! Can't beat that for some home decor :)
See you soon!
