Gallery Wall Re-Do...

Hi y'all! Look what I did last night...

The Mr. was gone for a few hours last evening and I got bored! I took the tree down earlier in the day and the gallery wall was really bugging me.

For some reason I do not have a picture of my "picture wall"...but you can see it and get the point in this picture...

See there to the left of the tree? I just had about 15 pictures of various sizes up on the wall in all mismatched frames. I loved it when I did it about a year ago but now I am bored with it.

So I had taken down the tree already and I also removed all the pictures from the wall and then just sat there and stared at it. Literally...I stared at the blank wall for a good 15 minutes.

When that didn't produce an idea I came down to the office/craft room to try and get some inspiration and that is when my lovely Coke crate hollered at me. It really did! The cat knocked it over and so it slammed on the floor and made a loud noise and caught my attention. As soon as I saw it I knew what to do...it was going on the wall!

I ran around the house looking for other "shelves" to add to create my new gallery wall and ended up stealing these 2 crates from my bedroom TV stand.

I didn't plan this out ahead of time...I just kind of winged it and hoped that it would look good in the end! I grabbed a bunch of nails and the hammer and a small level and got to work. (In my defense, we plan to paint the living room in the spring so I wasn't concerned so much about the holes if I jacked it up along the way!)

The coke crate was obviously my candidate for the focal point, so it went up first and then I just kind of filled in the blanks with the rest.

The motorcycle picture is from Hobby Lobby and was in my office and I have tons of frames laying around so I just grabbed one that looked the most natural with the crates. The motorcycle pic is stuck up there with 3M sticky tape, instead of trying to measure and make sure both nails lined up to hang it up I took the easy way out! I'm lazy like that!

The bottom of the coke crate is looking rough (lots of cracks and one piece is broken), so I just glued some fabric to it and was good to go.

The things on the shelf I recently inherited from my Great-Grandparents house. I got about 20 blue mason jars with original lids (which makes me want to squeal!) from my Nanny and a few alcohol bottles and a couple of other things that belonged to my Popaw.

The mug there is one of those things from Popaw. Anyone know what it's from? It's barrel shaped and has a wood handle attached by screws. There is a gun and holster on the front. I haven't been able to find out what it's from. It's pretty dang nifty!

The little oil can thingy came from his garage and my mom snagged it for me because she knows me so well and knew I would love it! It has a brother too that will be going elsewhere in my home.

That old school camera I bought at a flea market for $5 bucks! Score!

The M is my last initial

And the bottle is from 1969 and is one of the ones I got from my Popaw. How awesome is that?
It is called "Americana" by J.W. Dant and is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and it has a twin that still has the original tag on it so that's how I was able to figure that out!
The picture on the front is of Patrick Henry giving his speech "Give me liberty or give me death!" in 1765.
Apparently the "Americana" bottles all depicted famous scenes from great moments throughout history.

It's not worth much, I don't think, but I wouldn't get rid of it anyway since it belonged to my Popaw.
Besides...it looks great in my house, don't ya think? :)

Here it is in full view.
I pulled my cedar chest from my bedroom and then tossed my fave. throw blanket over the top and the new pillow I scored at Homegoods yesterday for $7 bucks! Both of those actually belong on the couch but I liked the way they looked over there with the new gallery wall.

So what do ya think? I love it from the bottom of my heart. It makes me smile every time I walk into the room. I love that it is interchangeable as well. Instead of the same 15 pictures up there forever and day I can swap out the knick-knacky stuff on the regular and help to change up the look a bit.

My honey was shocked when he came home but said that it looks 10,000 times better than before.

Also, it is cat approved!

Thanks for lookin'!
                      Love, Kris
